Team Western Selects Development Tour

Team Western Selects Developmental Tour is a program composed of selected players from Canada and the United States. Players are scouted in advance at the Pee Wee Major and Bantam Minor AAA or AA levels. Players are selected on the basis of a scouting criteria. The program currently comprises two teams, each made up of Pee Wee and  Bantam players. Team Western Selects departs for the Czech Republic each year in April for 2 weeks following the current minor hockey season.  The program occurs prior to most summer hockey programs.

This program is one of a kind in that it combines the highest level skill development with a supplemental competition opportunity in an educational environment. Team Western Select Players receive the following developmental program components:

Primary Focus

  • Daily on-ice training with professional European coaches
  • Daily on-ice team system development
  • Daily off-ice training with European off ice training specialists
  • Specialized goaltender training

Secondary Focus

  • Exhibition games with the top Extra League teams in Central Europe
  • Participation in the Czech Elite Invitational
  • International Tournament
  • Educational and touristic experiences
  • Educational Seminars for players and parents. ie) Nutrition, training objectives, goal setting at the team and personal levels

Player evaluation

  • Each player will receive an oral and written evaluation of performance and recommendations for the areas of your game that require improvement.

The objective is to provide an intensive program of training and development. Although the focus is hockey, the program also allows for an opportunity to experience Czech culture and history.
